Host Johann Zarco set the fastest lap time of the third free practice for the French Grand Prix, setting a new record for the Le Mans track lap. Twelve racers were faster than the old track record in the third practice.
Second was Francesco Bagnaia ahead of current world champion Fabio Quartararo, and Marco Marquez in fourth place. Jack Miller was fifth, and Aleix Espargaro, Takaaki Nakagami, Alex Rins, Pol Espargaro and Jorge Martin were automatically placed in Q2.
