Zanardi won the title of champion among paraplegic cyclists

Two-time champion and former Formula 1 racer Alex Zanardi won a victory in Canada that earned him the title of world champion among paraplegic riders. The 46-year-old Italian, who lost both legs in a collision with a card in Germany in the American Memorial 2001 race in 500, thus won the H4 category. He managed to cover the 17,3-kilometer route in just 27 minutes and fifteen seconds.

Zanardi was certainly looking forward to the event, but he himself said: “This is it, I became a world champion. I know it won't take long, but now I'm happy. ” in the WTCC. In 2007, six years after the accident, when he lost both legs, he was already cycling in a marathon in New York, where he won fourth place. In addition, in 2011 he won a silver medal at the world-class paraplegic cycling competition in the Netherlands and then a double gold at the 2012 Olympic Games.
