Yamaha's response to Quartararo's punishment: harsh punishment, commissioners inconsistent in decisions

Yamaha team leader Massimo Meregalli, after the punishment of Fabio Quartararo, once again pointed out the inconsistency of the race commissioners. As far as I am concerned, the punishment itself is too harsh compared to past incidents.

The race commissioners awarded the Frenchman a long lap penalty for the fall with which he pushed Aleix Espargaro into the sand at the next race in Silverstone. According to them, the maneuver was too ambitious and was not destined to succeed.

Fabio went to Aprilia's garage immediately after the race and also apologized to Espargaro. According to Meregalli, this should be the conclusion of this incident. At the same time, he reminded of the race in Barcelona, where the commissioners did not punish Nakagami. When the Japanese fell into the sand at the beginning of the race, he also took Bagnaia and Rinsa into the sand. The latter suffered a broken wrist at the time.

“Our opinion is that it was a racing incident. The decision of the commissioners to punish Fabio for the next race seems very strict to us, because no one fell next to him, and Aleix still managed to score quite a few points. ”

"Commissioners have once again shown their inconsistency. Many serious incidents in previous races went unpunished. ”

"During the summer break, we will study in detail what is happening in today's race and prepare for Silverstone to the maximum."
