German media report that Toto Wolff will in all likelihood resign as head of the Mercedes team after his contract with the German team expires at the end of this season. The Austrian is then supposed to take over the supervisory role in the team, but it is not yet rumored who will replace him.

Wolff is a 30% co-owner of the team, so it is quite possible that he will become a team consultant in the future, such as Dr. Helmut Marko at Red Bull, and it is rumored that Daimler, the owner of the Mercedes brand, wants to increase its stake in Aston Matin by 5%, which was recently bought by Wolff and Lawrence Stroll, and the latter is expected to get most of the remaining 70% of Mercedes teams.

This would even allow Daimler, which wants to tighten its belt and reduce costs, to realize its desire to withdraw from the sport, at least in the form of a factory team. Under this scenario, Stroll would probably sell his Racing Point team, which will be renamed Aston Martin next season, or it would just become the Mercedes B team.
