Mercedes boss Toto Wolff says that criticism at the expense of Formula 1 must stop, as in his opinion this can only jeopardize the championship. Critical claims fall at the expense of excessive fuel economy, in addition, the race cars are said to be too easy to operate, and Red Bull has already threatened to exit the highest class of motorsport.

Wolff believes F1 is basically a good sport and it is the duty of his employees to advertise it instead of publicly criticizing it. He said: “It is a good sales campaign. If I step out of my team boss position and look at what the sport has to offer, I see a good spectacle. Is it good for a single team to win regularly? Maybe not the most, but we’ve seen that in the past. It is our duty not to talk about Formula 1, but to be its ambassadors. ”

“By constantly collecting negative thoughts, we find ourselves in a spiral, which is not good for sports. I’ve been reading a few articles in recent days about Formula E and its comparison to F1. I have no desire to get involved in the Formula E championship at all. Our duty is F1, but this is only my personal opinion, ”Wolff concluded.

Lewis Hamilton, a two-time world champion, adds about the problem: “The problem is that everyone has their own opinion about Formula 1, but only the opinion of some people is actually taken into account, whether they are right or wrong. It is up to us to have the confidence and faith to make the right decisions for change. ”
