Moscow was the penultimate stop of the FIA Formula E Championship last Saturday and the scene of Nelson Piquet’s second win (Nextev TCR) of the season. With the victory, the Brazilian increased his advantage in the overall standings, the top of which is the same as the result of the Moscow race: Lucas di Grassi (Audi Sport Abt) was second and Sébastien Buemi (e.dams-Renault) third. The latter received a 29-second penalty mark-up after the race and therefore slipped to ninth place in the official standings. Nevertheless, the e.dams-Renault team, with Buemi's ranking and the fastest lap of the race and Prost's eighth place, won so many points that before the final races, which will be in London at the end of the month, they have a solid advantage in the overall standings.

The Russian capital hosted the ninth all-electric Formula One race for the ePrix right in the heart. The rather uneven street track ran along the embankment of the Moskva River, past the Red Square and the Kremlin, and offered the Spark-Renault SRT01_E single-seater race cars a unique backdrop. The racers of the e.dams-Renault team showed good results in free practice with their single-seater race cars, the architecture of which was created under the supervision of Renault Sport. Nevertheless, in the qualifiers, Jean-Eric Vergne (Andretti) won first place - for the third time this season. Despite touching the safety fence, the Frenchman placed ahead of Nelson Piquet and Lucas di Grassi. Sébastien Buemi started the race in fourth place and Nicolas Prost two places behind him.

When the start lights went out, Nelson Piquet rushed to the forefront, and Jean-Eric Vergne found himself in second place under pressure from Lucas di Grassi and Sébastien Buemi. The championship leader drove first to replace the car, a lap earlier than Jean-Eric Vergne and Lucas di Grassi. The latter took the opportunity to stop in boxing and broke into second place. Thanks to better energy management than its rivals, Sébastien Buemi drove into boxing at the latest. Unfortunately, he lost valuable time there, as the e.dams-Renault team exceeded the prescribed minimum stop time by nine seconds due to an error. The same fate befell Nicolas Prost, who slipped to eighth place.

Nelson Piquet controlled the lead over the rest of the race, winning his second win of the season while achieving the highest average race speed for the ePrix to date and consolidating his overall lead. Overtaking Sébastien Buemi to third place in the last lap, behind Piquet and his Brazilian compatriot Lucas di Grassi, who was taken over by Nick Heidfeld (Venturi) after the race, as Buemi was penalized with a 29-second mark for a dangerous starting from boxing. As a result, the Swiss slipped to ninth place in the standings, just behind teammate Nicolas Prost. E.dams-Renault maintained the lead in the overall standings and now has a 44-point advantage over its nearest rival.

The tenth and final stage of the FIA Formula E Championship will take place on 27 and 28 June in Battersea Park in London, where there will be two races for the ePrix. Andrey Pankov, CEO of Renault Russia: “Formula E marks a new era in motorsport by combining competition and new technologies. Renault, a leading electric vehicle development and sales company in Europe, is one of the main players in this new class of motorsport. We are convinced that electric vehicles represent our future, and we will do our utmost to promote their rapid development in Russia. ”
