Kris Meeke is on the verge of his first WRC World Rally Championship victory in Argentina, and at the same time it would be the British racer’s first victory since 2002, when Colin McRae won the Safari Rally.

Saturday's rally was marked by the accident of Haydn Paddon (hyundai), in which six spectators were injured. The accident happened at the Cordoba speed test, which caused the Capilla del Monte test to be canceled and the Characatao to be shortened.

Meek's lead was initially a little over a minute, but after a worse morning, his teammate Mads Ostberg approached the Citroen driver at 32 seconds. At the tenth HP, Meek managed to increase the transmission back to 38 seconds, despite having his car turned off after driving across the river.

Ostberg initially drove at the border as he tried to put pressure on Meek, but in tough conditions he decided to give up a bit so as not to jeopardize his second place.

Nevertheless, he is still threatened by Jari-Matti Latvala (volkswagen), who starts Sunday's test with 25 seconds behind, after he managed to reduce the gap by 6 seconds on the tenth HP. Latvale from the background can practically not be threatened by anyone after the only possible competitor Dani Sordo had to resign due to a technical malfunction on his Hyundai.

The racers will take the El Condor test twice by the end of the rally today.
