Daniel Ricciardo was fifth, and Lewis Hamilton, who can already win this year’s world title in the race, was quite restrained with a sixth time.

Esteban Ocon will start the race from seventh place, while the Alfa Rome racers achieved great team success. Kimi Raikkonen will start the team's 500th anniversary race from eighth place, and the Finn overtook his compatriot in the Mercedes race car, Valtteri Bottas, on the wet track for more than half a second. Raikkonen’s teammate Antonio Giovinazzi was tenth.

The Ferrari racers suffered a heavy defeat and were eliminated in the second part of the qualifications. Sebatian Vettel will start the race in 12th place behind Land Norris and Charles Leclerc in 14th place behind Carlos Sainz.
