Will Vinales regret the move to Yamaha?

After the win at Silverstone, Maverick Vinales could soon regret moving to Yamaha next season. The Yamaha team started the season with an engine that was the best on most racetracks. After the race in Great Britain, the first racer of the team, Valentino Rossi, said that he thought that the rivals at Honda, Ducati and Suzuki had already put better engines on the track, which was also supported by the fact that he and his teammate Jorge Lorenzo on the dry track they had quite a bit of trouble keeping up with the leading racers.

The opposite signals are coming from the Suzuki camp. After his first victory in the MotoGP class, Vinales said his team was able to find some solutions to the problems of excessive rear tire wear that made them uncompetitive in previous races.

The fact that Suzuki's form is obviously going wild, while only that of Yamaha is falling, is worrying for the young Spaniard before the new season. Such is the opinion of Kevin Schwantz, the champion of the 500cc class from 1993, who achieved 25 victories in his career, all on Suzuki motorcycles.

“It will be interesting to see how they do from here on out,” Schwantz said. “The Silverston racetrack is long and fast and this is the last racetrack where I would expect Suzuki to win. So far, they’ve always missed that something at the end of the plane. Last year at the Sachsenring they hoped the track would suit them, but they were terribly bad. Now, however, they have taken a step forward on a path where no one would have expected it. Rossi said after the race that Yamaha lacked grip in Silverstone. The question arises, are they losing their advantage? Maybe. Honda had a good grip, nullifying Yamaha’s advantage in powertrain power. The question, however, is whether Vinales ’victory was a combination of all these factors. The answer to this will be given later in the season when racers will be driving on different tracks.

Interestingly, all of these questions are also spinning in Vinales ’head at the moment. If it was in his skin, is this the beginning of one of those seven-year cycles in which Suzuki improves and he leaves them and moves to Yamaha, where Rossi is the first violin, ”Schwantz added.
