Yamaha boss Lin Jarvis has admitted that the Japanese team is tempted to work with Maverick Vinales and Alex Rins. There will be a lot going on in the racers ’market this season, as at the end of the season, most racers on the best teams have their contracts expiring, including Yamaha racers Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo.

Tensions between teammates reached a boiling point last year, prompting speculation about how long they will sit on the same engines.

Jarvis admitted that Yamaha has already given serious consideration to possible replacements, with Suzuki racer and newcomer to last season, Maverick Vinales, at the top of their wish list.

“Maverick already has experience with MotoGP. I do not know the details of his contract with Suzuki, but I assume that he signed for two years, with the possibility of extension to the 2017 season, ”explained the Briton. "He's a very good racer, so it's understandable that we've seen him at Yamaha as well as other factory teams."

Rins also appeared on the radar with his performances in the Moto2 class, where he will remain this year as well, but Yamaha could lure him to its camp through its b-team Tech 3. “I think Alex made the right decision when he intended to stay in the Moto2 class, ”Jarvis said. “He is undoubtedly a very talented racer and a suitable candidate for a future Yamaha racer. Of course, it is on our wish list. He made some mistakes last year but proved to be very fast. ”
