After qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix, which he finished in the first part and will start the race in thirteenth place, Maverick Vinales said that Marco Marquez's tactics did not bother him and that the Spaniard did not hinder him.

Marquez followed Vinales in both quick laps in the first half of qualifying, making the Yamaha racer visibly angry. The Honda racer advanced to Q2 and Vinales was knocked out, but he didn’t blame his rival for that, but admitted he just wasn’t fast enough.

Yamaha boss Massimo Meregalli called Marquez's move unsportsmanlike, and Vinales declined to comment. “I have nothing to say other than that we just weren’t fast enough. Honestly, I didn’t find the right feeling after my first workout. We went backwards instead of improving. So, no excuses. We were slow and that’s all. I was focused enough and drove a good lap, but it wasn’t good enough. Marquez didn't bother me. I knew it was behind me, but I also knew I could progress to Q2 if I drove a good lap, and I failed to do that. Marc didn’t bother me, he played his cards very well. Tomorrow is a new day, added Vinales, who added that the last attempt was interrupted. “I slowed down as I drove a poor third sector. I lost three tenths in the fourth sector and I was convinced that I was slower than in the previous round, so I deliberately drove off the line to start another round, but I ran out of time. ”
