Vinales ahead of Rossi at the top of the first free practice

The Yamaha factory team racers finished at the top of the first free practice in Thailand. Maverick Vinales was 0,270 seconds faster than teammate Valentino Rossi. The racers quickly started to set times on the new track, Marc Marquez was the first to start setting the fastest times, breaking through to the top of the table with a time of 1: 31.668.

The Spaniard remained at the top until the final attempts, when two minutes before the end Maverick Vinales set a time of 1: 31.220 and swung to the top. Immediately after him, Jack Miller broke into second place, but was overtaken only a few moments later by Valentino Rossi and Andrea Dovizioso. Marquez, however, finished fifth. Jorge Lorenzo raced after a fall in Aragon and finished seventeenth 1,3 seconds behind leader Vinales.
