Claudio De Cecco and his co-driver Alberto Barigelli won the rally in Nova Gorica for the fourth time. This year he was the fastest with an excellently prepared damage Fabio R5, with which he managed to meet the response of the fastest Slovenian driver Aleks Humar (Renault Clio R100T) in the second half of the 3-kilometer rally.

From the very beginning of the rally, Claudio De Cecco (škoda fabia R5) and Aleks Humar (renault clio R3T) were in the fight for victory, and they also shared the victories in all nine speed trials of the 5th Petrol Rally Nova Gorica. Although Humar managed to decide four speed trials in its favor, De Cecco, when it was most important, put a fair amount of pressure on the gas and took advantage of the technical advantage of his car. De Cecco had a 23.6-second lead over Humar. Their rival Krisztian Hideg (mitsubishi lancer EVO9) had to resign after a great start due to technical problems with the engine.

Humar was, of course, satisfied with the second place in the finish, and especially the fourth victory in the Slovenian national rally championship. With this, he increased his advantage in the total to 42 points, and by the end of the championship there are two more rallies. The overall third place in Nova Gorica went to Rok Turk (peugeot 208 R2), who won second place in the rally in the national championship.

“Even though the ride was not perfect, realistically nothing more could be done. I already knew before the rally that De Cecco has such a better race car that it will not be possible to follow it with my two-wheel drive clio. I am happy to win with a nice advantage in the Slovenian championship, where Jako and I have really won four times this year. Although the advantage in the overall standings is already large, I will also drive to win in the remaining two rallies of the season, ”said Humar at the finish of the 5th Petrol Rally Nova Gorica.

Despite the slightly damaged car, the local Igor Žbogar (Renault Clio R3) also finished the rally with distinction. Despite the lack of racing mileage, he drove very reliably all the time and was only 41,1 seconds behind the Turk. Fifth place was won by Grega Premrl (Citroen DS3 R3T), who was the fastest in the Mitropa Cup after a very good second half of the rally.

Jernej Fakin (peugeot 208 R2) lost a few places and flew off the road, but he didn't lose much except for the front bumper and seconds. Fakin finished the rally in eleventh place. Among the locals, in addition to Žbogar, the eighth-ranked Vasja Miklavčič (renault clio RS) also had an excellent rally.

The results:
