Vettel returned the blow in the second practice

 
German Sebastian Vettel set the fastest time of the second free practice for the German GP. With a time of 1: 30.416, he was 0.235 seconds faster than Nic Rosberg with Mercedes. Vettlom teammate at Red Bull, Mark Webber was third.

The trio was followed by Lotus racers Romain Grosjean and Kimi Raikkonen, who beat Ferrari racers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Masso. Morning training winner Lewis Hamilton was only eighth after failing to set up a competitive lap with a softer mix of tires. He was eight tenths of a second behind Vettl.
