Current world champion Max Verstappen announced that he remains the favorite to win with the fastest qualifying time in Mexico. The Dutchman won his nineteenth career-best starting position. This time, however, the Red Bull racer was fighting for the top spots with the Mercedes team racers, who will start the race right behind him. George Russell was second and again more successful than Lewis Hamilton, who starts the race from third place.
Home hero Sergio Perez won the fourth starting place, Carlos Sainz the fifth, ahead of the surprisingly fast Finn Valtteri Bottas in sixth place, Charles Leclerc was seventh, and Lando Norris, Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon were also in the top ten.
