Italian Valentino Rossi was inducted into the MotoGP Hall of Fame at the FIM Cup. It was an expected, but still somewhat surprising move for Rossi, which is usually announced before the award ceremony.

After 26 seasons, 9 world titles and 115 victories, the MotoGP Legend peat was awarded to Rossi by Dorna's director Carmelo Ezpeleta.
“You imagined this day as a nightmare, as it ended a long career, but in the end I really enjoyed it. Thanks to everyone, everyone who worked with me, the whole paddock, everyone else the racer. The day was long and memorable and I really enjoyed it. I have a long career behind me and I enjoyed it all the time, ”said Rossi at the reception of the cup.

“All I can say to Valentin is, thank you so much for everything,” Ezpeleta said. “The journey from Malaysia in 1996 was amazing. Back then, we saw a guy who was driving fantastic races, but he was also special for a number of other reasons. Ever since then, everything we’ve done together has been amazing for everyone who works at MotoGP. Valentino was an amazing racer, even yesterday at the age of 42 he was only a few tenths behind Fabio (Quartararo). But his personality is also something special, as is everything we’ve created together, from the security commission onwards. All I can say is Grazie, Valentino! ”
