In the horrific accident of Dario Franchitti at the Indy Car series race in Houston, USA, the flying wreckage of the race cars injured as many as 14 spectators. Dario was also injured in the collision, suffering a double fracture of the spine, concussion, and a broken right ankle.
Franchitti was involved in an accident with a former Formula One racer, Takumo Satom, in the final lap of the race, with his car lifted and thrown against a safety net. Dario underwent ankle surgery immediately after the accident on Sunday, and spinal injuries will not require surgery, according to the Ganassi team, for which the three-time champion is racing.
