Nikolas Tombazis is a new member of the Marussia team. The former Ferrari design boss, who has spent nine years at the post, will serve as head of aerodynamics in the 2016 season, and his contract will start running immediately. For the past twenty-three years, he has been a leader in aerodynamics at Benetton, Ferrari and McLaren.

“I am very happy to be coming to Manor at this exciting time as they develop. They have compelling plans and invest in all the areas needed to achieve them. The existing team is already very strong, so I look forward to working with an outstanding staff to take the most out of the opportunities that will help us progress over the next few seasons, ”said Tombazis, who will work under Technical Director John McQuilliam.

The latter said of the new collaborator: “I believe he will help us strengthen the results of the possible design work of the team, which in recent years has not yet had the opportunity to show off with all the experience and skills. I am confident that together with the new Mercedes powertrain and Williams transmission and technical partnership, we will move the new aerodynamic structure towards stronger design and development of competing race cars, which will lead us towards our long-term orientations.

The team has not yet revealed the racing lineup for the upcoming season, but they have largely overhauled the lineup of competent men, so the arrival of Tombazis is just another step in that direction.
