Finn Kimi Raikkonen warned the bosses of the Lotus team that something could happen quickly that he will not compete in the last two races of this season if they do not find a solution to the financial problems.

Relations between Raikkonen and Lotus strained sharply in a race in India, where Alan Permane shouted from the team wall on the radio and cursed at the 2007 season champion. Raikkonen revealed in Abu Dhabi that he has been waiting for payment from the side all season. Lotus and that he was a little short of missing the race in Abu Dhabi because of it.

“I came here only because I hope we will find a solution to the problems we have. I hope that we will save them and that we will finish the season as well as possible, ”the Finn told reporters in Abu Dhabi.

Asked if he was also considering not competing in the last two races of the season, Raikkonen replied: “Of course. I enjoy racing, but a big part of it is business. When business is not running as it should, we find ourselves in an awkward position. It is necessary to draw a line somewhere and if the problem goes beyond that limit, then it will not be my fault. ”

The 2007 season champion stressed that unpaid wages are more to blame for bad relationships than a dispute in a race in India, adding that statements by the team suggesting that he puts his interests ahead of the team's interests in races, affected.

"It's not nice to hear that you're not a team player and that you don't care about the interests of the team, and you haven't received a cent in salary all year," said Raikkonen, to whom Lotus owes just under 18 million euros.

“It doesn’t put you in the best of moods, but that’s the way things are. Like I said, I hope we have found a solution to the situation, ”Raikkonen added.
