It is often added that Formula 1 racers start to take an active part in some other racing industry, but Formula 1 teams do not like to do that. First of all, they are afraid of injuries, and secondly, they are afraid of possible bad results. However, Kimi Räikkönen has a different opinion, saying that his racing at the WRC was important for his further career. "Of course, any such sport can be dangerous, but you can get injured anywhere else," Räikkönen explained to F1i.com.

The Finn stressed that the rally is a good experience where he was able to test and upgrade his skills. “You have to be precise and very concentrated all the time and you have to rely on your co-driver and listen to him all the time,” he described his experience. Thus, he believes that this activity came in very handy, as he did not "rust" during the two-year break, but continued to be active.

“The biggest advantage was that I was still active in sports. Whatever others say, rallies can teach you a lot. When I came back, I was completely in shape, ”added Räikkönen.

“Of course, I had doubts about my decision to take a break and switch to the rally. I knew what kind of car I knew. And in the end, I realized that the decision was entirely in place, ”concluded Räikkönen. In conclusion, he added that he may have had a little trouble returning to Formula 1 at the beginning, as the cars have only been slightly updated in the meantime, but if he did not believe in himself and his abilities, he would not have signed the contract.
