Former racer Martin Brundle believes that Finn Kimi Raikkonen, the oldest of the racers this season, has come to the end of the road and that the champion of the 2007 season cannot show us better performances. The Ferrari racer made a mistake in the fast lap several times this year in the qualifiers, and in a few races, according to Brundl, he is not able to keep up with teammate Sebastian Vettl. The Briton, who has been commenting on Formula One at Sky F1 in recent years, wrote in his column: “Ferrari should worry about Kimi. Sure, he’s one of the most popular racers, but after another mistake in qualifying, he finished the race half a minute behind his teammate. What will they do? I think he has come to the end of his journey. Every now and then he shows the right speed, but is no longer capable of the relentless pace needed in racing. At the same time, it does not protect Vettl's back.
It is very important for Ferrari to win the constructors' title of world champion and if they want to win the fight against Red Bull or Mercedes, they have to take Ricciard or Leclerc into the race car next season next to Vettl. ”
According to Brundl, Charles Leclerc, a Sauber racer, is the most suitable replacement for Raikkonen.
“It’s more than obvious from the real test for Formula 1 and it seems like the perfect package, even if it looks like a scared Harry Potter in the show picture of the starting lineup. Ferrari rarely takes risks with young racers, but a generational change is taking place. The starting line can be divided into three groups. Raikkonen is fifth in the championship standings after seven races this season, with 50 points and 71 points less than leader Vettl.
