Le Mans race organizers have announced that this year’s MotoGP class race could be postponed for at least a month due to a virus outbreak. Instead of May, the race would be on the agenda in June, if the situation in Europe normalizes by then. A similar thing could happen with the races in Jerez and Mugello

A spokesman for the organizers, Claude Michy, told the French newspaper Lequipe:

“The final decision on what will happen to the race in Le Mans will be known in the first week of April. It all depends, of course, on the health situation. There is no need to rush. ”

If the race in France is also officially postponed to June, the race could be scheduled for the weekend between 12.6 and 14.6.2020. This was the date of the legendary 24-hour motorcycle endurance race, which has now been postponed to September.

Given that the French test last season with a total of 206 visitors was the most visited European race in the motorcycle class and second overall (only for Thailand), everything is expected to be done in the desire to run the race in Le Mans this year.

Michy has already emphasized that they do not intend to do this behind closed doors. Racing weekend is a celebration, and it is crucial that as many races as possible are held.

"The most important thing is that the championship will take place this year, even if only with ten or eleven races. The future of the competition and the teams depends on that. ”
