The Mercedes wing fell on the test

Mercedes will have to use an older version of the front wing at the Australian Grand Prix this weekend after their state-of-the-art one failed the mandatory crash test.

The new wings are supposed to guide the air under the car more efficiently and generally improve the performance of the overall aerodynamics, but this is just one of the innovations that the Germans have prepared for the first race. The designer of the car, Aldo Costa, announced some time ago that they would take an extreme path with the development of the front wing, but it seems that this approach did not pay off and how quickly it could happen that the German team will lose some speed compared to competitors.
