Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff confirmed that Robert Kubici helped the team by testing in their simulator. Unofficially, it is even said that the Pole is supposed to enter the Mercedes simulator several times, but Wolff rejects a long-term plan: "Robert is focusing on the rally, that is his primary goal."
Despite the fact that there is officially nothing about the long-term plan, Wolff admits between the lines: “But we all know that Kubica is an extremely talented racer, and he also has a lot of experience. We gave him a place in the simulator, maybe he will sit in it again to get used to the Formula One car. We will all gain from this, because he really has a lot of experience and so we can help him and he can help us at the same time. "
Let's remember that Kubica took as many as 76 big prizes for BMW and Renault, and then he was stopped by a serious accident in the rally in 2011. Kubica drove back to the race track for the first time only this year, when he tested a DTM series car for Mercedes, but later decided only to focus on the rally program. Next time we will see the Pole in action at the European Rally Championships in Corsica.
