Pastor Maldonado described Williams' FW35 race car as immobile after being knocked out in the first part of qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix. Maldonado’s teammate Valtteri Bottas made it through to the second half, and Maldonado got stuck in seventeenth place after a run off the track in the seventeenth turn. “The situation on the team is like two years ago,” Maldonado was displeased. “We have to work hard and solve problems. The car is currently completely impassable. We were slow on the wet track as well as on the dry. It may be a little better in the race, but the qualifying form was poor. ”

Maldonado will start the first race of the season from the ninth starting line-up, just ahead of Sauber’s Esteban Gutierrez and racers Marussie and Caterham.
