Ferrari’s new boss, Marco Mattiacci, said his team must accelerate the pace of development immediately after showing a dull performance at the Spanish Grand Prix. Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen finished the race in sixth and seventh place. The former was almost a minute and a half behind the winner, while the latter lost the team duel thanks to a missed tactic and fell behind by a full lap.
“We are aware of our position and the fact that we need to start working at double speed right away,” said Mattiacci, who has only been leading the team for a month. “The fact is that we have two very motivated and combative racers, and at the same time we are a team that stands firmly together and strives for a vision of a new winning era,” Mattiacci added.
Racers and teams stayed at the Catalunya racetrack after the race, where the second two-day off-season testing began today. For Ferrari, Kimi Raikkonen will test both days after Fernando Alonso sat in a race car for two days in the first tests in Bahrain.
