Lewis Hamilton, who finished the race for the Italian Grand Prix only in ninth place, said his dream of this year’s title is over.

The Mercedes racer surprisingly dropped out in the second part of the qualifiers on Saturday, starting the race from twelfth place. The Briton was hit by a leaking tire during the race, which forced him to make an unplanned stop in the pits, which caused him to lose contact with competitors in the foreground.

“I finished in ninth place, although we should have been much higher,” he said after the race. “I am very disappointed in myself. I messed up in the qualifiers, so it was impossible to make up for lost time. It’s hard when you give your all for just two points. This is also the end of the fight for this year's title.

The team turned out great, and I failed this weekend. Now I have to get away and regroup, and try again in Singapore. This weekend has been disastrous, ”said Hamilton, who is 81 points behind leaders Sebastian Vettl in the overall standings. There are seven more races until the end of the season, and 175 points are available.
