The dispute over Pirelli tires in Formula 1 continues. More and more responsible team leaders and drivers are taking the side of Ferrari and Sebastian Vettl. Pirelli is defending himself, and drivers are demanding additional explanations.
As is known, Sebastian Vettel is in Belgium on Sunday after the end of the race stated that the quality of the tires is impossible. One is the result, the other problem is that I would have landed in a concrete fence if this had happened a little earlier.
Two days before that, similar to Vettl in the race, it happened to Nico Rosbberg in free practice. It is precisely this fact that similar cases have not occurred before that further encourages criticism from team members and drivers against Pirelli.
Nico Rosberg said in his video message after the match: “It is not possible for tires to burst just like that, on their own, without any previous signs. We simply cannot accept that fact. "
His team leaders, Niki Lauda, and Toto Wolf have no understanding for criticism at the expense of Pirelli. Toto Wolf says, “I have to defend Pirelli. It was their completely independent and pure decision (Ferrari) to take a risk and opt for a one-stop tactic. Considering Friday's event with Nico Rosberg, we took as many as three stops as an option and were thus prepared for a possible unforeseen event. "
Paul Hembery, head of the Pirelli-Motorsport team, said in his defense: “We suggested two or three pit stops to the teams before the match. None of them were on the racetrack with the same tires for more than 22 laps, only Ferrari had more of them, which was very (un) heroic on their part to even try it. ”
