Claire Williams, the daughter of Frank Williams, the founder of the Williams team, was introduced to the public today as the deputy head of the team. Her newly formed position on the team will allow her to work right next to her brother Frank, where she will learn to lead the team so that she can do it independently in the future. Claire joined the Williams team in 2002, where she worked as a public relations representative and took over marketing management three years ago.
Claire got her new job before the start of this season, but due to the death of her mother, Lady Virginia, they waited with a public announcement.
“It is a great honor for me to become the deputy head of the team. I look forward to working alongside Frank where I will help him lead the team this year and next seasons. I grew up in this sport and learned little secrets from one of the legendary bosses in Formula One. This makes me feel well prepared for this new challenge.
I understand the dedication of every individual on the team who strives to put our race car on the track and I am determined to get us back to the top. This month has been sad for the death of my mother for both my family and the Williams team, but now the season has begun and we need to look to the future. I feel privileged to be involved in a successful chapter of the team. ”
Frank Williams described his daughter as an important member of the team, as she was supposed to have everything needed to run it. “For the last ten years, Clair has worked tirelessly for Williams. Her knowledge of the sport and passion for this team is unquestionable and I am proud that she has proven to be an important and valuable link during this time.
With Claire in place of the deputy team boss, I now know that the future of the team is assured and that it is in capable hands. Claire’s appointment was also blessed by Ginny, who would be very proud to see Claire in this place next to me, ”Frank said.
Clair Williams will also continue to serve as head of the team’s commercial department.
