F1 is scheduled to stop in China for the first time since 16 on April 2023, 2019, but Britain's BBC reports that the race's cancellation is imminent. 2023 is set to see a record-long season with 24 races, but the anti-coronavirus measures still in place in China require anyone who tests positive for Covid-19 to spend five days in an isolation center and then another three days in isolation at home.

The authorities would not make an exception even for members of the F1 caravan, and the leading men of the sport are said to be unwilling to risk any of their staff being trapped in the country.

In 2019, the Chinese Grand Prix hosted the jubilee 1000th race for the Grand Prix, with Lewis Hamilton celebrating his victory. But the race will apparently be cancelled, and the race calendar is said to be unwilling to replace it, so there will be a four-week gap between the race in Austria and Azerbaijan. F1 director Stefano Domenicali is already said to be in talks with the organizers of the Baku race to change the date of the Baku race to reduce the break between races.

China extended its contract with Formula One last year and is expected to host F1 championship races until 2025.
