Takaaki Nakagami will miss this weekend's MotoGP Thai Grand Prix as he undergoes surgery on an injured little finger on his right hand. The LCR Honda racer will be replaced by the Japanese Tetsua Nagashima.

Nakagami injured the little finger and ring finger on his right hand when he collided with Marc Marquez at Aragon and underwent surgery on the Monday after the race before competing in his home race for the Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi on Sunday. He underwent a post-race scan which revealed damage to his pinky tendon and will undergo another operation on Friday before aiming to return for the Australian Grand Prix in two weeks' time.

Nakagami's replacement, Nagashima, entered the Motegi race on Sunday as a Honda wildcard, but ended prematurely with a lap XNUMX crash.

After his home race in Motegi, Tetsuta Nagashima will get another chance at the Thai Grand Prix, replacing Takaaki Nakagami.
