The race for the British Grand Prix was certainly marked by this bizarre and, according to many, undeserved victory of Michael Schumacher. Two laps before the end of the race, the German received a penalty of a 10-second stop in the pits for overtaking Alex Wurz during a safety car in the 43rd lap, and he drove to serve it at the end of the last lap of the race. Since Ferrari’s garage and thus Schumacher’s stopping place was located behind the finish line, it was held that he won the race as he drove the finish line while driving to the penalty stop.
