New success of Maribor students in Formula Student

The team of Maribor students UNI Maribor Grand Prix Engineering achieved 3rd place in the endurance race and 3rd place in the total sum of the dynamic part of the competition within the project Student Formula at the international competition in Győr, Hungary. In total, there were 8. The competition took place between 20 and 23 August, the announcement of the results took place on Sunday, 23.8. The team is currently preparing for the second competition of the year, which will start in 7 days. It will take place in Most, Czech Republic, between September 3 and 6, where it also expects good rankings. 2 drivers of the race car completed the 1485,742km long course in the endurance test in 22s and thus secured the team 3rd place here as well as in the total sum of the dynamic part of the competition. The UMI MB GPE team presented its Formula Student GPE14 car in Maribor. This is a group of 35 students, mostly from the Maribor Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, who invested their knowledge and free time throughout the academic year in making the right formula from carbon fiber. The GPE14, which weighs only 170 kilograms, is powered by a 450cc KTM 55-horsepower (41KW) powertrain and reaches a speed of 160km / h, accelerating to 100km / h in 3.7 seconds. The students invested a total of over 1000 hours or six months in the project, and their diligent work bore fruit in competitions abroad, where, for example, in England, out of 90 participants, they took an excellent 23rd place.
