Austrian GP result under scrutiny: FIA examines more than 1200 suspected violations of track boundaries
After the Formula One race for the Austrian Grand Prix, the Aston Martin team filed a protest against the final results, due to numerous off-track driving that was not penalized by the FIA. The filed protest was accepted by the FIA, and the commissioners are now reviewing over 1200 potential violations that they failed to examine during the 71-lap long race. Once the review is complete, however, the FIA will announce any changes to the final order. The FIA explained that they have never been in such a position before, and the owners of the Red Bull Ring circuit will be asked to set up sand excursion areas, especially in the last two corners of the circuit, where the most violations are expected to occur during today's race.
