Kimi Raikkonen said after qualifying for the Chinese Grand Prix that he was disappointed with his achievement after finishing sixth, while Sebastian Vettel finished third. The Finn said he found no grip in the first part of the lap. "I drove a bad lap on the last set of tires. For some reason, the rear of the car slid too much in the first two corners," Raikkonen explained. "I lost precious tenths there, so I could only try to drive the best in the rest of the lap. We're all disappointed with where I finished qualifying." Ferrari’s technical director, James Allison, was confident both of their racers could stand in the second starting row. "We are a bit disappointed that we did not reach the third and fourth place, because we had a fast enough car, but such

Ferrari racer Kimi Raikkonen is confident that his team has managed to close the gap behind Mercedes in terms of speed in racing. The team from Maranello was fourth best last season, and this year they showed progress during the winter preparations, which they confirmed in the first race of the season in Australia. Sebastian Vettel finished the race in fourth place while Kimi Raikkonen drove in fifth place and fought for fourth when he was stopped by a mechanic’s mistake at the stop. Vettel and Raikkonen were fourth and fifth in qualifying, behind Mercedes and Williams racer Felipe Massa, but both felt they could finish third. “I don’t think we’re far behind Mercedes in racing,” Raikkonen said. "I'm sure we can deal with them

Sebastian Vettel said that when he finished third in the first race with Ferrari, he felt like he was winning. The Maranello team experienced one of the worst seasons in Formula One history last year. They finished the season without a single win for the first time since 1993. At the Albert Park race, however, Vettel came even closer to the Mercedes racers, although he crossed the finish line a whopping 34 seconds later than winner Lewis Hamilton. “I am very happy and honored to race for Ferrari,” the German said. "We have a great winter behind us and I thanked everyone on the team. I am proud, but we have a lot of work to do if we want to beat Hamilton, Rosberg and Mercedes. Of course, third place is not a victory, but it is just as important for us after last season. as this is a sign that we have done our de well

Lewis Hamilton is said to have twice turned down an offer from Ferrari, which was joined last year by former boss Marco Mattiacci. According to the English Mirror Sport, the latter wants to get the two-time champion into the team in the 2016 season, and the new Scuderi boss, Maurizio Arrivabene, also wants the Briton in the red car. But Hamilton is said to have kept the promise he made to Toto Wolff, the boss of Mercedes, and has not even started negotiations with the Italian team. Both Mercedes and Hamilton have agreed not to talk to others until they have finished negotiating with each other. The 30-year-old Hamilton has said publicly that he wants to stay in Brackley and in the final days before the first race of the season in Melbourne he is expected to be just about to sign a contract. According to some of the allegations, it was a five-year contract with s

Lotus racer Pastor Maldonado set the fastest time of the first day of testing in Barcelona. The Venezuelan stopped twice on the track with his E23, then put on soft tires towards the end of the day and set the fastest time, which was a tenth and a half better than the time set by Kimi Raikkonen in the fast Ferrari. The Finn spent his time on slower, medium-hard tires. Third was Daniel Ricciardo with Red Bull. The Australian was also bothered by the technique in the morning and he also achieved his time on a soft rubber compound. Sergio Perez was fourth with last year’s Force Indie race car left to him by Pascal Wehrlein, who replaced the sick Lewis Hamilton in a Mercedes race car. Ferrari: The new car is more suited to Raikkonen

Ferrari's technical director, James Allison, is confident that this year's SF-15T will suit Kimi Raikkonen much better than last year's. The Finn suffered the worst season of his career on his return to Ferrari last year as a result of a race car that was unpredictable when braking, and when entering a corner. The Maranello team was strengthened last year with a new technical director who had already worked with Raikkonen at Lotus, where the 2007 season champion raced before moving to Ferrari. The team now understands what Raikkonen needs to succeed, so this year’s race car has been adapted accordingly. "We will know for sure only when the car is on the track, but I hope that this year's car, where we have enabled a better front of the car when entering a corner and more support on braking, will be easier.

Kimi Raikkonen said he was expecting a difficult 2014 season after joining Ferrari after a four-year absence. The Finn, who also raced for victories in the 2013 and 2014 seasons in the Lotus race car and chased a record-long series of points, did not finish the race among the top three with Ferrari this year. This happened for the first time since his first season in Formula One, in 2001, and with twelfth place in the championship, he also recorded the lowest ranking of his career. But the 2007 season champion explained that the difficult period of adjustment did not surprise him. “Because of the nature of the work, I was expecting problems with the new team,” said Raikkonen, who will be working with another racing engineer next season. "If the car doesn't suit you, which I've already faced at Ferrari, it's hard to change things
