Two-time world champion Sebastien Ogier increased his lead in the overall standings with his fifth victory this year. “After driving 90 percent of the rally first, it’s a great win,” Ogier said. “We had to drive at full speed from everything from the first to the last minute,” the Volkswagen racer added. His teammate, Andreas Mikkelsen, finished in second place with almost 12 seconds to go, and Volkswagen’s third-ranked driver, Jari-Matti Latvala, crashed into a tree in the final speed test and was left without a chance for third place. The Finn damaged the front right part of the Polo and the radiator in the collision. “I was a little too fast and crashed into a tree,” he explained of the event. Every year, GTI enthusiasts flock to Lake Worthersee, where they exchange ideas, opinions, speculate about remakes and everything that goes with it. In recent years, they have been joined by owners of other Volkswagen, Škoda, Audi and Seat, which is why the GTI assembly has been recognized by car manufacturers as a good opportunity to promote their products. Fans of their products are now rewarded every year with a concept model, and this year Škoda has prepared a concept Fabio pickup for the choir. It’s called the FUNstar, and it’s a 5-door model converted into a sort of sports van. The credit for the design is owned by 23 trainees at Škoda. You’ll be able to watch FUNstar in two weeks, between May 13 and 16, when the 34th GTI meeting will take place. Škoda's pickup concept stands on 18-inch alloy wheels G

Norwegian Andreas Mikkelsen will start the second day of the rally in Sweden with a lead of 19.1 seconds ahead of teammate Sebastien Ogier. Up to the 14.76-kilometer-long ninth Torsby test, fast Ogier was in the lead, followed by Latvala with a 2.9-second lag, and then both Volkswagen racers made a mistake. The Frenchman braked too late in a sharp turn and hit the snow bank, where he lost almost 40 seconds and thus landed in fourth place overall. At the same speed test, some 500 meters before the finish line, Latvala made a mistake, drove off the road, which was again helped by many spectators, but lost a thick eight minutes and thus fell out of the fight for high places. Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) finished second on the second day and Mads Ostberg, who finished third,

The former Formula One racer is almost five minutes behind the leaders. So Loeb is leading by 13.3 seconds ahead of the second day

After Škoda introduced the latest Fabia model a few months ago, it has now put on display the Fabia R5 concept, a rally special with a 1.6-liter turbo engine and a five-speed sequential transmission. When completed, the Fabia R5 will replace the Fabia S2000, one of the most successful rally cars on any basis in various categories. The Fabia S2000 was introduced in 2009 and, believe it or not, served as the basis for Volkswagen’s WRC program, which became simply invincible, which is now also expected of the Fabia R5 in the lower rally categories.

One two more races separate him until his first victory, but he will really have to prove himself. He is currently in third place behind Jari-Matti Latvalo, and leading Sebastien Ogier. "The achievement at the beginning of the year was excellent when I first stood on the podium, but the last race was phenomenal as I felt very confident in the Polo. The possibility of competing with Jari-Matti Latvalo would be
