
Jean-Pierre Beltoise died
Former Formula One racer and Monaco Grand Prix winner Jean-Pierre Beltoise has died at the age of 77. Pierre was also the last to celebrate with the BRMs in Monaco, otherwise he began his career in motorcycling, where he won 11 French titles. He also got on four wheels, where he had a serious accident in a 12-hour race in Reims in 1964, in which he injured his left shoulder forever. Nonetheless, Beltoise continued to race and won titles in F3 and F2, then moved on to Formula One. His first F1 race was the US Grand Prix in 1967, and in the same year he won second place at the Dutch Grand Prix. He played with the Matras until the end of 1971, then transferred to Tyrrell and then to BRM, when he also won his first victory in F1. It's a year after that
