Pirelli announces new records
At Pirelli, they predict that we can expect lap records this year given how fast the race cars were in Australia compared to last year. The new tire structure combined with improved race cars meant two seconds better lap times. The fastest lap of Sunday’s race, set by Lewis Hamilton, was 1s faster with 30,945: 1,5s. Paul Hembery, Pirelli's motorsport director, says: "These comparisons show us what is expected after pre-season testing - improved lap times and race cars that will get faster throughout the season. We can even expect lap records at some racetracks."
