Logan Sargeant has to start the race from the pits
Williams driver Logan Sargeant failed to set a qualifying time within the stipulated 107% deviation from the best time, so he had to ask race management for special permission based on Friday's practice times. The FIA allowed him to participate in the Japanese Grand Prix, but since, according to the commissioners, Williams "built a completely new racing car", the American will have to start the race from the garages and serve a 10-second penalty at the first stop.
