
MotoGP tire pressure control is now completely automatic
Tire pressure control in the MotoGP class will be completely automatic from the Catalunya GP. The system will continuously monitor the pressure in the racers' tires and if there are any deviations, a control measurement will be carried out. If both measurements show that the permitted limits are exceeded, the racer will be penalized accordingly. Incorrect tire pressure will be treated as a technical offence, for which the racer can be excluded from qualifying or the race, but since tire pressure measurement is introduced at the British GP, i.e. during the season, the commissioners will only punish repeated violations. The first violation will earn the racer a warning, the second violation will result in a 3-second penalty, the third violation will result in a 6-second penalty, and the fourth violation will result in a 12-second penalty.
