Bottas at five starting places

Valtteri Bottas, the fastest racer in the first two free practice sessions, will start the race for the UK Grand Prix five places lower than his qualifying ranking after having to replace a faulty gearbox on his race car. This is the second transmission failure on a Mercedes car after Finch's teammate Lewis Hamilton suffered the same fate last weekend. At Mercedes, they explained that Bottas' gearbox was damaged in the same way as Hamilton's and that they still tried to complete a series of six races with it, but they failed. They said they had discovered the cause of the problems and that they would not happen again.

Grosjean five places lower

Romain Grosjean will get a five-point mark-up on placing in today’s qualifiers as they unexpectedly replace the gearbox in Haas ’VF-16 race car after the last free practice. The Frenchman had previously spun in a chic Ascari in training and remained trapped in the sand. Before getting out of the car, he announced on the radio that he had “lost the gearbox”. The rules of Formula 1 dictate that the gear racer must use six consecutive races. Failure to do so will result in a penalty.

Rally

Even at the speed trials in the vicinity of Gap in France, the Slovenian crew successfully and quickly continued their performance at the rally for the World Championship. With both dry and wet road tires as well as studded tires, the second day of the Monte Carlo Rally successfully tackled the icy sections hiding in the shady parts of the speed trials. After 158 kilometers of racing and eight speed trials, Rok and Enej took 7th place in the RC4 class with a Peugeot 208 R2. They even made it to fifth place, but unfortunately their performance ended in the thirteenth test Sisteron, where they were tempted by the gearbox.
