ANDREA IANNONE hopes for FORGIVENESS

MotoGP News
Andrea Iannone was punished in December 2019 with an 18-month racing ban for steroid abuse. The Italian tested positive for doping during a racing weekend in Malaysia in October 2019, and later appealed the decision on the penalty. The appeal was unsuccessful, and the Anti-Doping Agency proposed a higher, 4-year ban on racing for him, which was also upheld by the competent court. If Iannone had not appealed the original decision, his ban would have expired in the coming days, but it looks like the Italian could return to MotoGP pits sooner than later in 2023, as FIM president Jorge Viegas is considering pardon racer, or to abolish the extension of the penalty. Iannone kept claiming that he ingested steroids unintentionally, by ingesting food

Valentino Rossi tactically took advantage of the rules and lodged an appeal against the sentence imposed over the incident in Malaysia, for which the commissioners awarded him three penalty points. Since the Yamaha racer in Misano has already won one point, he should start the next race from the background with an additional three according to the rules. But the Italian has now lodged an appeal against the sentence imposed in Malaysia and asked for a reduction of it or a complete erasure. The matter will be decided by the Sports Arbitration Court in Switzerland, which could mean that he will start the race in Valencia from the place he will achieve in the qualifiers. The court's decision will be known on Friday, November 6, two days before the race in Valencia.
