Is Alfa Romeo back on the racetrack?
The legendary Italian car brand, Alfa Romeo, is expected to return to the racetrack by participating in a new project of the International Automobile Federation FIA. The FIE Sports Council has given the green light to hold the F2 Championship, which is set to be an intermediate stage between the existing F3 and Formula One. A more detailed idea of the Formula Two project will be presented to the Sports Council in July, after which the hunt for promoters will begin, although it is not yet known when the championship will take place. The planning of the new racing series fell to former Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali, who is also chairman of the FIA's Open Cab Racing Committee. In the championship, all racing cars will be made by one manufacturer, and sources from Italy claim that Ferrari already has their hands on the idea of humming them.
