Ilirska Bistrica will once again be a treat for petrol enthusiasts this year

Every year, the mountain speed race in Ilirska Bistrica attracts many attractive race cars and the best racers in Europe. This year is no different. The deadline for registration for the race expires only on Monday, but we already find Igor Deklevo, a returnee to the racetracks, who will compete with the Mitsubishi Lancer on the incomplete list of entries. Viewers will be able to see as well as hear at least two legendary Lancia. Slovenian racing legend Milan Bubnič will compete with Delta, while Austrian Felix Pailer will impress with Integralka. Among the many prototypes and formulas, we will be clenching our fists for the Zajelšnik brothers and for Marjan Smrdelj. Next season comes the clash of GHD champions

At the last meeting of the International Sports Council, the FIA gave the green light for the most prestigious competition in the world of mountain speed racing. Next season, Slovenian mountain speed racers are also promised the opportunity to participate in the so-called Hill Climb Masters competition. Mountain speed racing is one of the oldest motorsports disciplines, as the first races were organized in the early twentieth century. Today, the races take place in more than twenty European countries, as well as on other continents, where the most famous race is the Pikes Peak race in Colorado. The European Mountain Speed Racing Championship (EHCC) consists of thirteen events in eleven countries, including Slovenia. At its meeting in Rechberg, Austria, the Commission of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) adopted a decision to change the date of the mountain speed race in Ilirska Bistrica. The race, which is also considered the European Championship, will take place on August 30 and not on June 16, as originally planned.
