MotoGP star Marco Marquez's health improved after returning to the optic nerve three months ago, so he returned to motocross riding.

The Honda racer fell in training and injured his optic nerve, causing him to see double for some time, similar to 2011, when his racing career was severely jeopardized for the first time.

The Spaniard was recovering well and surgery was not necessary, but after an examination on Monday, the eight-time world champion was already riding a motocross bike and doing his first training session with his brother Alex.

"I am very happy," said the Spaniard. “After three complicated months, I started to feel better in the last one. I followed the advice of Dr. Sánchez Dalmau, who helped me back in 2011, so I was now able to ride motocross again, where I also got injured last year. “

Marquez hopes to fully recover by the start of winter testing in Malaysia in February, before which he will also ride a few laps on road motorcycles.

“I look forward to the next step in recovery, which is a return to the racetrack. The injury crept in just when things seemed to be back in place, so I need to continue to follow the doctors ’advice so I can get back to full health faster. I would like to take part in tests in Malaysia, but first I have to do a few laps on the track, and assess how I feel before we decide to proceed with the recovery. ”

The Honda racer has had some difficult seasons, as he broke his arm in the first race of the 2020 season, and due to complications in vaccination, he even needed three surgeries, one of which had a bone transplant at the site of the fracture. Marquez missed the first two races in 2021 and then won three, eventually finishing the season as Honda’s top-ranked racer despite missing four races and four resignations.
