Lewis Hamilton got his first free practice for the German GP. The Briton was better than his teammate at Mercedes, Nico Rosberg by 1 seconds, with a lap of 31.754: 0.298, and third was Mark Webber with Red Bull, who was seven tenths of a second behind Hamilton.
Despite the threatening clouds, the racers were able to test the new tires that Pirelli brought here, only Fernando Alonso did not record the time, as he was annoyed by his car.
