James Hinchcliff had a serious accident during today's training of the Indy 500 series. On the Schmidt-Peterson Honda car, the front right suspension failed, driving Hinchcliff straight into the third-turn guardrail.
The car caught fire and most of the right side of the car was destroyed. The car, of course, bounced off the concrete wall, and tires flew into the air, which could almost have hit Canadian Sebastien Saavedra. However, Hinchcliff was taken to a local hospital, but training was interrupted and resumed three hours later.
However, Hinchcliffe suffered injuries to his upper thigh. He is currently undergoing surgery, but according to the official doctor of the IndyCar series, Michael Olinger, his health condition is stable. It is located in IU Methodist Hospital.
