Sebastien Ogier leads Rally Mexico after two evening speed trials.

The third race of this year's World Rally Championship was started by the racers with a speed test around the city of Guanajuato, which runs entirely on asphalt and through a 300m tunnel.

Belgian Thierry Neuville started the fastest and won the first one-kilometer speed test. The rally was also started excellently by the Italian Lorenzo Bertelli, who finished the first test in second place. Third-placed in the first test Sebastien Ogier quickly showed his teeth and won the second test, which took place on a mixed basis.

"I've always loved the start of this rally, as the atmosphere here is amazing," Ogier said, adding, "It's nice to be leading tonight and you can count on me tomorrow to do my best."

Neuville admits, "I'm happy with what I've seen, but on the second test I couldn't follow Ogier in his Polo." Ogier finished the evening in the lead with 1,2 seconds ahead of Neuville and Andreas Mikkelsen.

Mikkelsen won the battle with his teammate Jari-Matti Latvalo, so the Finn finished the day in fourth place.

Mads Ostberg is ranked fifth ahead of Kris Meek, Otto Tanak and eighth-placed Robert Kubica.

Eight speed trials await the crew today near the city of Guanajuato.
