As a bolt from the blue, before the first free practice for the Argentine Grand Prix, the news hit that FIM, in agreement with Dorna, decided to award Valentino Rossi two penalty points, due to the unsportsmanlike behavior of his fans after the race in Qatar.

A group of Rossi fans whistled at the trophy ceremony after the race in Qatar when Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo received trophies for their achievements.

The Italian said yesterday that he could not influence the behavior of his fans, and that it was not his fault that the fans were whistling Lorenzo and Marquez, and the FIM, following the example of football, determined that it was impossible to determine which fans behaved unsportsmanlike and appropriately punish, so it is best to repressively punish the racer, thus suppressing negative behavior in the stands.

Rossi faces a tougher penalty in the event of a riot, namely the start of the next race from last place, and the highest penalty is a ban on competing in one race.

The Yamaha racer has already announced an appeal against the sentence.
