Rossi: Marquez best limited point losses

Valentino Rossi believes that the main reason that Marc Marquez is currently the leader after half of the races in the World Championship is that he perfectly limited the loss of points in races that did not go his best.

After nine races, Marquez has taken the lead thanks to a win at the Sachsenring and currently has a 5-point advantage over his first runner-up. The scale of the best is otherwise very concise. Rossi, Dovizioso and Vinales are all 10 points away from the leader in the overall standings - Marquez. Even Dani Pedrosa can still fight decently for the world title, as he is only 26 points behind.

Marquez resigned twice (Argentina and Le mans), finished on the podium five times and never finished a race worse than sixth. On the other hand, the Yamaha racers both registered four podiums, and at the same time they both finished the race once in their modest tenth place.

“Marquez leads in the overall standings, because in the moments when he was in serious trouble, he is the best or. most successfully limited point losses, ”so Rossi.

"He was very strong and he won compared to us when he needed it the most and that's why he's in the lead in the overall standings."

At the same time, Rossi is convinced that all of them are still fighting for the world title. He also does not want to write off Pedrose, as he is aware of his qualities.

“For four years, until the race in Barcelona in 2016, only four racers were able to fight for race victories. That changed a lot then and today more racers can fight to win races, ”said the experienced Italian.

Asked how this affects his fight for the world title, he replied that he thinks a higher number of potential race winners is not negatively affecting his position. The most important thing is that you are able to fight for victories and, after all, that you are able to win in the end.

Rossi won at Assn a month ago, thus breaking his winless streak that lasted more than a year. The new framework, which the Italian started using after testing in Spain, contributed enormously to this. This frame allows him to drive more aggressively through corners, and apparently also suits him a little better than his teammate Vinales.

“No one can predict what will happen in the next races,” says Rossi. “I can’t claim that there is a race that I will definitely celebrate. I want to be fast in Misano and I also think I can be very strong in races in Malaysia and Japan. ”

Rossi's main goal at the moment is to arrive in Brno well prepared and rested.
